Chicago Window & Door Solutions provides and installs ready-made components from leading door and window manufacturers. We are, however, at heart a carpentry contractor. Over the years we’ve executed many unique projects that some of the “Installation Only” window/door companies simply aren’t able to handle. We believe that providing our customers with the services that create a one-stop solution to their window or door challenges results in a better overall project.

CWDS supplies and installs premium windows and doors in residential, institutional, and light commercial buildings in the western suburbs of the Chicago area.

We are known for collaborating with our customers to provide them with a positive experience when interacting with our company.  We achieve this by:

  • Being mindful of architecturally significant details – we believe in facilitating the retention/restoration/recreation of these details rather than stripping a building of its character
  • Providing interrelated products and services for a complete installation package
  • Educating our clients about installation/building practices and product technologies and options
  • Employing industry-approved best practices to ensure efficient, durable installations
  • Utilizing sustainable materials whenever possible to ensure an environmentally-sensitive, low-impact job
  • Being respectful of our customers, their family and pets, and their property

We strive to be thought leaders in the window and door industry. We give back to our industry via collaborative education and encourage professional development throughout our company.  We believe in supporting local business and source domestic products as much as possible.

Greg Burnet –  Project Manager

Greg brings a wealth of knowledge about proper window and door installations, as well as construction as a whole, having been involved in many facets of carpentry and building continuously since 1980.
Greg also has strong writing and teaching abilities. He’s had scores of articles published in national trade magazines over the years & has been invited to teach carpentry and building classes at tradeshows such as JLC Live and The Remodeling Show since 2008.
When not meeting with clients or teaching, Greg can be found online where he moderates a forum for construction professionals and networks with other contractors throughout the country.

Sue Burnet – Office Maven

As a small business owner one wears many hats — Sue changes hers at least 3-4 times a day! From client communication to marketing, project ordering and scheduling, she has her hand in just about everything.  She is often the person you’ll get when you call our office.  She’ll do her best to help answer your questions or find an answer, no matter how obscure.

Sue started working in the remodeling industry in 2002 when she joined as Greg’s business partner and helped run and grow CWDS. Sue brings a varied professional background to the company and is primarily responsible for the operational and customer service elements of the business.

In the past 16 years, Sue has continued to hone her industry knowledge by attending seminars and training courses at a number of tradeshows and conferences such as JLC Live and The Remodeling Show.

Strother Purdy – Designer and Chief Maker of Sawdust

Strother recently joined the team after moving to Chicago from Connecticut (why he traded its lush hills for our winter slush we’re not quite sure). Strother is an expert furniture and door maker. He’s also the author of Doormaking, from Linden Publishing, a crack designer, and a former editor at Fine Woodworking magazine. These days he keeps our shop humming along while also making time to write his first novel.
