Oriel Window Redo

Challenge: This 1880’s Victorian house originally had an oriel window in the same location as the one we built. According to the owners (who many years ago were lucky enough to speak with a 1920’s inhabitant of the house), the window was removed during a prohibition-era renovation & replaced with simple double-hung units. The owners wanted to add more beauty to the dining room of the house, which is the space the oriel window serves.

Solution: We custom built this entire unit, incorporating a 3 wide casement window with matching transoms above. The exterior of the assembly is reflective of the Carpenter’s Gothic style of this Victorian & is capped off with a copper roof. The interior has become a favorite spot for the owner, an active gardener, to display her plants as well as an extensive collection of glass ornaments.
